Overlooking the neighborhood for nearly 36 years has been the Marriott Hotel that sits on a twelve acre site. The Marriott was built between 1973- 1974 and featured over 600 rooms. The hotel, at the time, was one of the largest in Denver and has given way to newer hotels in the Denver Tech Center and the Meridian Business Complex.

Denver Runnin of the Green 2010

In Chicago, they die the rivers green - In Denver and other cities they paint green stripes for the parade routes and throughout the world - people wear green so that they do not receive a traditional pinch. St. Patricks Day is celebrated by eating corned beef and cabbage, sheppard pie and drinking green beer, Guinness, Irish whiskey or an Irish cream.

For over 22 years, Denver has hosted the Runnin of the Green in Downtown Denver and is a charity event for volunteers of America. The Runnin of the Green is a 7K run/walk with plenty of post activities.

Mile High United Way Turkey Trot in Washington Park - " Success"

The 36th Annual Mile High United Way Turkey Trot was an ovewhelming success. There was a record attendance of 9,603 participants that either ran or walked the 4-mile race course around Washington Park in Denver. With the temperature at race time just over 40 degrees connelly_photo_2560and sunny, this was the highest participant level ever. This annual event held on Thanksgiving morning raised over $300,000 in 2009 to support programs and services. Some of the money raised will go to fight homelessness in Denver.

The Washington Park Turkey Trot is highlighted with some participants dressed in full turkey costumes and others with feathered hats. Washington Park homeowners, next to the park, participated with morning mimosas' and others showcased garage bands, bag pipes and…
