Posted by Stephen Connelly on Thursday, December 3rd, 2009 at 8:45pm.

The 36th Annual Mile High United Way Turkey Trot was an ovewhelming success. There was a record attendance of 9,603 participants that either ran or walked the 4-mile race course around Washington Park in Denver. With the temperature at race time just over 40 degrees connelly_photo_2560and sunny, this was the highest participant level ever. This annual event held on Thanksgiving morning raised over $300,000 in 2009 to support programs and services. Some of the money raised will go to fight homelessness in Denver.

The Washington Park Turkey Trot is highlighted with some participants dressed in full turkey costumes and others with feathered hats. Washington Park homeowners, next to the park, participated with morning mimosas' and others showcased garage bands, bag pipes and scottish quilts in the front yards.

The race is a great way to burn colories before the Thanksgiving dinner and to give back to the community. Listed below are the race results from the top three finishers if the men and women in the 4-mile timed race.
