Denver Runnin of the Green 2010

St. Patricks Day is celebrated by eating corned beef and cabbage, sheppard pie and drinking green beer, Guinness, Irish whiskey or an Irish cream.
For over 22 years, Denver has hosted the Runnin of the Green in Downtown Denver and is a charity event for volunteers of America. The Runnin of the Green is a 7K run/walk with plenty of post activities.

Where: 17th and Wazee in front of McCormick's Fish House and Bar
When: Sunday, March 14th at 10:15am
Registration: www. rotg.org or Registrar the day of the race starting at 7:00am
Cost: Early registration through the 13th of February ($27.00) Registration after 13th February ($30.00)
By the way, What is St. Patricks Day? St. Patricks Day is a holy day of obligation for Roman Catholics in Ireland. It is an annual feast day which celebrates Saint Patrick, the most commonly recognized of the patron of saints of Ireland.
and Why the Shamrock? In the early 17th century, green ribbons and shamrocks were worn in celebration of St. Patricks Day. Saint Patrick used the shamrock, a three leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-christian Irish.
If you have not participated in Runnin of the Green, this is a great post activity before St. Patricks Day on March 17th. The Runnin of the Green ends with a traditional celebration that is two blocks long and features Irish bands, bag pipers, Irish cloggers, corn beef sandwiches and plenty of Killian's Red beer. The post-race party has been voted tops across the country.
